Instant dry Japanese fish stock powder, which is added to soups and stews. It is very popular in Japan and other places in Asia; however, not so common in the West. “Dashi” is a dry fish stock, which contains dried bonito flakes and konbu seaweed. Dashi has a natural smell and flavour-enhancing properties, and it serves as a base for a large proportion of Japanese dishes, starting from sauces and soups and ending with noodles. You can use Dashi No Moto dry stock in almost any dish or recipe that requires chicken or vegetable stock. It is used in Miso soup and often also in snack sauces from Japanese cuisine. Use dashi as a base for miso soup, udon/ soba soup or Sukiyaki. A quantity of 1%-2% is melted in hot water. It is used as a soup base.
